Maria Tolentino

Hi, I’m Maria, also known as Teacher Lou. I’m a TESOL-certified English teacher based in Hong Kong with around 10 years of experience teaching children, teenagers, and adults. I specialise in practical, student-centred lessons that build speaking confidence, improve pronunciation and vocabulary, and prepare learners for exams, interviews, and workplace communication. My lessons are structured, supportive, and tailored to each student’s goals. My journey into teaching began as a hobby after I got married and chose to stay home. Before that, I worked for many years as a customer service representative for American companies, handling a telecommunications account. My accent-neutralisation training and extensive exposure to English gave me a strong foundation, which opened the door to teaching when I moved to Hong Kong. What started as a way to stay connected and help others has grown into a rewarding career that I truly love.
